NEWD Project Update

The District's AVEK connection is moving forward. The grant agreement for $609,000 was approved and signed in early May and the District has already received $91,000 to pay for the AVEK connection fees. The district applied for this grant from the State Water Resources Control Board Safer Drinking Water Division and the award was fast tracked due to the compliance orders issued because of the levels of arsenic in the water.
The district is working with AECOM engineering, and has developed the plans and bid specs for the project. The state approved the plans, and they were sent out last month. The bid opening was June 15th and the bid will be officially awarded next week.
When will we have the AVEK water? The construction phase of the project is between 30 and 60 days so depending on when the project construction start, we hope to complete the switch over to AVEK water by this fall or early winter.
